Filtreon is seeking a technically-minded and forward-thinking Product Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and ensure conformance to specifications and performance of existing Filtreon products.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and implements product and component changes that improve value by increasing quality and performance or by reducing costs.
  • Coordinates product and process improvements with other departments including Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Design Engineering.
  • Develops and monitors lab and field performance test programs. Gathers and analyses data to monitor product and component performance.
  • Accumulates product application expertise.
  • Acts as a technical resource to other departments, including Manufacturing, Sourcing, Sales, and Marketing, to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Participates in and leads cross-functional teams to implement product and process improvements.
  • Maintains contact with suppliers through Sourcing to ensure all supplies received meet quality standards.
  • Develops and implements corrective action by following the Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
  • Prepares and updates product and quality specifications.
  • Reviews quality audit records and analyses customer returns to assess product conformance to specifications.
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple projects and objectives and handles other unscheduled tasks.
  • Prepares and presents project status reports.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent plus 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of grease filtration, mist elimination, and mechanical filtration.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of ASHRAE 52.2, UL 900, and UL 1046.
  • Strong analytical and technical engineering skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop and communicate sound lines of reasoning.
  • Ability to assertively and professionally communicate with others.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and methodology.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Strong statistical skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office programs as well as email and scheduling programs.
  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to coordinate and handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

RESEARCH SCIENTIST

 

Overview:

Filtreon Research Scientist will perform tests and experiments in support of principal investigators on multiple projects. Support involves working closely with other members of a multi-discipline team to plan, design, and conduct experiments using characterization and detection techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions as a team member with chemists, engineers, biologists, and scientists by performing research with chemical and biological warfare material (CBWM) detection and characterization.
  • Operates and maintains instrumentation for material characterization to include gas chromatography-mass selective detection (GC-MSD) and other analytical instruments.
  • Executes experiments revolving around the characterization of the physical properties of various materials.
  • Synthesizes, develops, and characterizes nanomaterials and their interactions with chemical warfare material.
  • Generates test data and contributes to technical report development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other related fields with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in areas of chemical warfare agent characterization, detection, and identification.
  • Demonstrated experience in synthesis and/or characterization of nanomaterials and polymer composites.
  • Demonstrated experience in the safety and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in analyzing and reporting analytical data.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to wear laboratory personal protective equipment to include air-purifying respirators.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad proficiency in microscopy, chromatography, spectroscopy, and other technologies relevant to the chemical and biological defense.
  • Has knowledge of current CBRNE threats.
  • Hands-on experience in working with CBWMs and other toxic chemicals.
